As a Youth Justice Service Officer, you will be a key member of Sefton's Youth Justice Service, working with partners to support children's well-being and safety. Your role focuses on preventing children from entering the criminal justice system and providing support for positive change and future success. You will prioritize the individual needs of children, ensuring they are seen as children first, and utilize local resources to achieve positive outcomes.

Main Duties

1. Coordinate interventions and support for a diverse caseload, including children involved in Multi Agency Public Protection Arrangements (MAPPA).
2. Manage specific thematic areas such as program development, sharing best practices, and evaluation, as directed by management.
3. Work with Council and partner colleagues to manage high-risk and vulnerable children and young people.
4. Assess children's needs, evaluate risks, and ensure appropriate services and interventions are delivered, focusing on outcomes and exit strategies.
5. Make complex decisions regarding caseloads using professional judgment and evidence-based tools.
6. Develop, implement, and review multi-agency intervention plans to reduce risks and prevent reoffending.
7. Engage directly with children and families, using high-level influencing and persuasive skills.
8. Stay informed about local and national contexts and new evidence-based research.
9. Promote team learning through case reviews and activity-based learning.
10. Prepare detailed reports for Referral Order Panels and Courts.
11. Represent the Youth Justice Service at meetings and attend Court as needed.
12. Provide quality assurance support as per management agreements.
13. Chair reviews of children under Youth Justice Service intervention.
14. Record all assessments, plans, contacts, actions, and decisions in the Case Management System.
15. Report risks and vulnerabilities through the management chain and multi-agency team.
16. Ensure timely submission of high-quality reports.
17. Maintain knowledge of service development plans, policies, and annual plans.
18. Identify practice improvements and contribute to service development.
19. Participate in the office duty rota system.
20. Engage in supervision and evaluate own performance for development.
21. Ensure compliance with Youth Justice and corporate policies.
