How would you inspire someone who has never cooked before to believe they can prepare healthy, affordable meals for themselves? We are seeking a passionate and community focused Community Chef to deliver engaging, practical cooking sessions within partner venues across our local area. This role is central to empowering vulnerable adults and community groups to develop essential life skills, improve their wellbeing, and build confidence in the kitchen. The Community Chef will inspire participants to cook nutritious, affordable meals, understand healthy eating principles, and make positive choices that support both physical and mental health. This exciting role will include: Plan and deliver engaging cooking workshops for diverse community groups Teach practical cooking skills including food preparation, knife safety, budgeting, and healthy meal planning Promote healthy eating and nutrition using affordable, accessible ingredients Adapt sessions to suit different learning needs and abilities Deliver sessions in partnership with community organisations and support settings Encourage wellbeing and build confidence through cooking and shared learning Maintain high standards of food hygiene and safety Manage ingredients, equipment, and session resources Collect participant feedback and support programme reporting If you can demonstrate the following, then we’d love to hear from you: Teaching qualification (AET/PTLLS or higher) or willingness to work towards one Strong cooking skills and experience preparing fresh, healthy meals Experience supporting vulnerable groups in community, education, or care settings Clear, patient and empathetic communication skills Knowledge of healthy eating and nutrition (desirable) Confidence leading groups in a positive, motivating environment Ability to travel to partner locations when required Food hygiene certificate (or willingness to obtain) Salary: £32.47 - £45.85 per hour (depending on qualifications and experience) Contract: Sessional Location: Cross Campus – Hastings/Ore Start Date: As soon as possible Closing Date: Sunday 22nd March 2026 Interview Date: TBC In return, we can offer you: A competitive FE salary, generous annual leave & pension, access to funded teaching qualifications, apprenticeships and a range of other training courses to support career development, as well as many other benefits.
