Calling all compassionate and dedicated individuals! Mencap is seeking passionate Male Support Workers to join our Floating Support team in Rochdale. We are looking for a driver with a full UK Driving Licence who can drive manual vehicles. As a Relief Support Worker, you\'ll have the opportunity to make a real difference in the lives of individuals with learning disabilities. You will be working with a diverse group of people, each with their own unique abilities and needs, from assisting with daily activities to providing emotional support. Floating Support is a service in the Rochdale, Middleton, Littleborough area that supports people in the community. This is not a Domestic Service but may include household cleaning/laundry etc. Each person receives support hours depending on needs, including tasks such as medication administration, budgeting, trips to the shops, socialising, hobbies, personal care, tenancy upkeep, and healthy eating. Although we are initially looking for Relief staff, shifts may be any number of hours a week spread over certain days. Example: 11.5 hours a week, 1.5 hours a day, 2 on a Friday for shopping support, or 10 hours a week with varying days.
Staff will visit 3 or 4 people we support on each shift. A good local knowledge of the Rochdale, Middleton, Littleborough areas is essential to this role. Applicants MUST be a car driver with a full UK Driving Licence and able to drive manual vehicles.
Responsibilities
* Provide practical support with daily activities and personal care as needed.
* Offer emotional support and build meaningful relationships with individuals with learning disabilities.
* Support budgeting, shopping, healthy eating, and tenancy upkeep as required by each person’s plan.
* Assist with medication administration if required and per agreed care plans.
* Communicate effectively with people supported, their families, and colleagues.
* Join a team visiting multiple individuals on each shift in community settings.
Qualifications
* A genuine passion for supporting others.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
* Flexibility to work various shifts, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.
* A positive and empathetic attitude towards individuals with learning disabilities.
* Driver with full UK Driving Licence, able to drive manual vehicles.
Contract and shifts
* Contract option: Relief - to cover annual leave/sickness
* This service is not 24-hour care. Rotas are prepared at least 4 weeks in advance so you can plan your personal and social life.
* Days: Anytime between 08:00-22:00
