Behaviour Mentor
* Behaviour Mentor needed for small alternative provision
* Romford based
* Full-time position - MON - FRI, 8.30am - 3.30pm
* Key Stages 3 and 4
* Must have school based experience
A small alternative provision based in Romford is seeking a Behaviour Mentor. This position is for an immediate start, and is full‑time and long‑term until the end of the academic year. For the successful candidate there is also the potential for a permanent contract to be offered.
The Provision
* Successful provision provides at‑risk pupils aged 11–16 with access to education and behaviour intervention
* Young people attend the provision for either a short term (6 weeks to 1 term) or long term (2 terms+ placements)
* Student progress is carefully tracked and staff work to improve both academic and attitude outcomes
* Classes are small, with a 1–6 students per class, each class has a Behaviour Mentor
* The staff team are passionate individuals who work collaboratively to offer the best and most flexible teaching methods for their students, understanding that each student comes with a different set of challenges and that careful planning and relationship building are essential to help them achieve their goals.
The Role
* Support the Class Teacher
* Manage emotional and challenging behaviours
* Be a positive role model
* Provide pupils with useful knowledge and advice on a 1‑1 and group basis
* Diffuse challenging situations, de‑escalating conflict and guiding students towards improved attitudes, effort and behaviour
* Your ultimate goal is to help pupils understand the barriers to learning and arm them with strategies to overcome these so that they can achieve.
This Behaviour Mentor role would suit an inspirational leader. You must be creative, able to think on your feet and think outside the box about ways in which you can get through to students from various backgrounds. You must be calm, patient and up for a challenge.
