Clinical Fellow in Rehabilitation / Intermediate Care

Applications are invited for a Clinical Fellow in Rehabilitation / Intermediate Care (LED ST3 equivalent) for a fixed term period of 12 months, working full time, Monday‑Friday each week. The successful applicant will join an existing team of General Practitioners, Resident Doctors, Advanced Clinical Practitioners and nursing staff on the wards. The post holder is responsible for the care of patients on the inpatient rehabilitation wards and Discharge Lounge and will be expected to provide medical leadership in the absence of the GP.
Due to this being an ST3 level role applicants will require previous NHS experience.
Main duties of the job
The post holder is required to work flexibly across the wards and discharge lounge in line with service needs. The post holder would be expected to review patients holistically, facilitate safe and effective complex discharge planning as well as manage and escalse acute illness in line with clinical competence.
Job responsibilities
The post is offered at 40 hours per week, covering ward work/rounds and multidisciplinary meetings. There is no requirement for on‑call duties.

Qualification
* Full GMC Registration with a Licence to Practise
* MBBS or equivalent
* MRCP Part 1
Experience
* Understands the principles of clinical governance – ensures patients are not put at risk
* Understands the importance of working effectively in teams
* Knowledge of UK health systems, practices and values and awareness of current issues in the NHS
* Understands the importance and impact of information systems in health care
* Has experience of working in teams
Ability
* Proven ability in all clinical areas of the specialty
Audit and Research
* Understands the need for and appreciates the role of audit in clinical practice
* Knowledge, interest and commitment to audit
* Experience of research and interpretation of results
* Has participated in clinical audit
Teaching and Education
* Contributes to teaching and learning of others in the clinical setting
Other
* Able to communicate effectively in written and spoken English
* Able to discuss treatment options with patients in a way they can understand
* Able to communicate with all levels of staff and patients effectively
* Able to establish good working relations with patients, carers and multi-disciplinary colleagues
* Understands the responsibilities of being an employee in the NHS and provides evidence of communication skills
