A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a Tax Manager to join a rapidly growing boutique Chartered practice, located in modern Hi-tech offices in Brentwood, Essex.
This new position consolidates the existing tax workstreams across the practice and provides the successful candidate the opportunity to expand and develop the in-house tax offering. The successful candidate will be highly motivated, technically competent, and able to manage multiple workflows autonomously. A good understanding of tax, specifically VAT, CGT, IT, and CT, is essential.
This firm has experienced extraordinary organic growth since its inception in 2012. Operating across three locations—London, Manchester, and Essex—it serves a diverse client base, from HNWI to Directors of SMEs in sectors such as Construction, Financial Services, Ecommerce, Sports & Entertainment, with turnovers ranging from £200k to £15m.
Duties Overview
1. Managing a full portfolio of 400 clients
2. Collaborating with Directors and clients on planning and advisory
3. Identifying and developing new revenue opportunities
4. Managing all tax compliance and supervising a team of qualified and junior staff
5. Dealing with HMRC Enquiries
6. Advising on tax technical issues as required
7. Conducting technical research with the Tax Support team
8. Understanding taxation of corporate group structures
9. Handling advisory projects, including letter and report writing
10. Preparing and generating Personal Tax Returns using IRIS
11. Liaising with HM Revenue & Customs
12. Monitoring and recording WIP and raising bills promptly
13. Managing engagement letters and clearances
14. Identifying tax planning opportunities and fee strategies
15. Attending client meetings across all locations as appropriate
16. Undertaking technical research

The ideal candidate will be FCA/CTA qualified or equivalent, preferably with at least 5 years post-qualification experience.
You should have a strong background in tax compliance and advisory, with exposure to enquiries and disclosures. The candidate should be personable and demonstrate a high level of competency, with the ability to develop and leverage long-term client relationships.
