Overview
An exciting opportunity for a Band 7 Stoma Care Clinical Nurse Specialist at Scunthorpe General Hospital. The position is for 30 hours per week over 4 days, with a requirement to work flexibly over the Monday to Friday period to ensure consistent provision of stoma care service.
You will be required to work independently as a lone worker and as part of a wider multidisciplinary team within the colorectal service. The post holder will be an integral part of the colorectal team and will assess, plan, evaluate and deliver all relevant aspects of patient-focused care in a caring, compassionate and sensitive manner. You will contribute to clinical governance and have excellent communication and organisational skills. The post offers opportunities to enhance and expand experience in stoma care and to influence the experience of patients undergoing life-changing surgery. The pathway involves pre- and post-operative counselling, support and education for patients and their families/carers.

Responsibilities
* Directly deliver stoma care to patients based on current evidence across settings (home, OPD, ward) to provide a flexible service that meets patient and family/carer needs.
* Provide support and specialist nursing advice across the Trust to clinical colleagues in complex cases.
* Support the delivery of high-quality stoma care by improving the knowledge and skills of first-line staff through education (Trust-wide and individual).
* Follow the patient’s journey into the community with nurse-led clinics, undertaking regular reviews of patient products to ensure appropriateness.
Requirements / Qualifications
* Recent and relevant experience in stoma care.
* At least 3 years of colorectal and surgical experience.
* Ability to work independently as a lone worker and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
* Strong communication and organisational skills; ability to contribute to clinical governance.
