Reports to: UK MFTS (RW) Supervisors
Mon - Fri / 08:00 - 17:00 / 40 hrs per week.

Role Overview
The Aircraft Mechanical Fitter plays a vital role in supporting the UK Military Flying Training System's rotary wing operations. Based at RAF Shawbury, this hands-on position involves maintaining and servicing the H135/H145 helicopter fleet to ensure optimal performance and safety. Though non-certifying, the role is essential to the daily functioning of flight operations and maintenance activities.
Key Responsibilities
5. Assist with aircraft movement, line maintenance, and base maintenance of the H135/H145 fleet
6. Perform inspections and repairs under the direction of Shift Supervisors or Certifying Engineers
7. Maintain high standards of workmanship to ensure safe aircraft operation
8. Complete maintenance tasks on airframe structures, power plants, mechanical and electrical systems in line with OEM instructions
9. Carry out off-aircraft component and composite work in workshops as needed
10. Support hangar operations, including aircraft movement and general housekeeping
Required Knowledge & Skills
Essential
11. Strong understanding of engine and airframe systems
12. Familiarity with specialised test equipment for engine and airframe diagnostics
13. Up-to-date knowledge of:Flight and airport operationsAircraft line maintenanceAircraft base maintenance
Desirable
14. Awareness of UK Military Aviation and UK MFTS procedures
15. Understanding of CAA Part 145 and Part M regulations
Qualifications & Experience
Essential
16. Completed apprenticeship in Aircraft Maintenance or a related discipline
17. Experience in base maintenance, flight operations, and line maintenance
Desirable
18. Experience working with H135/H145 helicopters
19. Exposure to Airbus Helicopters products
20. Background in military aviation
Performance Expectations
21. Maintain aircraft availability levels above 98% at Shawbury, including during deployments
