We are looking for an experienced science or PE Teacher who also has experience of supporting SEND and SEMH pupils.

16. An excellent class teacher
17. Experience as a primary, secondary or SEND teacher
Skills, Knowledge and Abilities
18. Science and/or PE experience, ideally to secondary/GCSE level
19. Expert understanding of innovative pedagogy
20. Experience of assessment without levels including tracking pupil progress
21. Knowledge and understanding of statutory assessment arrangements at KS2 and/or KS3 and KS4
22. Knowledge and understanding of effective strategies to manage the behaviour of pupils
23. Excellent knowledge of inclusion including SEMH, EAL, bilingual learners, minority ethnic
24. achievement and equality (race, disability, and gender)
25. Excellent understanding of safeguarding especially the safety and welfare of vulnerable and
26. disadvantaged pupils
27. Expert knowledge of strategies for closing the gap
28. The ability and willingness to teach a range of subjects, from KS2 – KS4 and post-16 as required.
29. An understanding of a range of SEND needs, including: ASD, ADHD, Speech, Language and Communication needs, emotionally based school avoidance
30. Contribution to the educational and social development of each young person
31. The ability to form effective relationships with young people, their families (if appropriate) and external agencies
32. To ensure that young people’s views and wishes are sought and acted upon where appropriate
33. Ensure that appropriate resources and environment exist for individual pupils referred to the service, and that opportunity for inclusion are available to all our students
34. To liaise with other teachers and teaching assistants in the team to ensure effective deployment of resources

36. A strong sense of self-belief, confidence in decision making and the initiative to move things forward in a positive way
37. The ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing, with pupils and adults
38. An approachable, caring and kind manner
39. The ability to work to deadlines in very busy periods
40. A good sense of humour!
41. The ability to recognise appropriate work/life balance
42. The ability to establish and maintain constructive and open relationships with parents/carers, staff and the local community
43. Possession of a strong set of values and beliefs, with awareness of how these fit in with the values of the school
44. Commitment to continued self-professional development and ways to improve and achieve within the role as much as possible
Desirable
45. Ability to teach across key stages
46. Degree/qualification in psychology
47. Higher degree or equivalent
