Senior Solicitor - Motor Maternity Cover

Responsibilities
* Handle a varied caseload of litigated motor injury, fraud and credit hire cases, spanning both the County Court and High Court jurisdiction.
* Manage your own caseload and supervise more junior colleagues, providing advice and guidance and feedback as required.
* Communicate with insurer clients, respond to queries, and update on matter progress.
* Conduct forensic analysis of quantum evidence, prepare chronologies, identify anomalies and relevant information across sources and categories of evidence.
* Apply knowledge of complex injury symptomology to identify issues in medical records and instruct medical experts, highlighting key issues.
* Critically analyse sources of liability evidence and identify gaps.
* Draft concise technical advice on indemnity, liability, quantum and causation issues.
* Identify next steps on matters and take action as agreed.
* Interview witnesses and draft statements.
* Liaise with insureds, insurers, witnesses and other parties involved in claims.
* Draft pleadings and applications; instruct counsel and attend conferences, JSMs, mediations (remote or in person).
* Attend court in person or by telephone; attend trials and settlement conferences as required.
* Deliver agreed performance targets and quality standards.
* Delegate tasks to Legal Assistants and/or Paralegals and contribute to their development.
* Maintain case management systems with up-to-date management information for clients.
* Ensure compliance with LSNI regulations.
* Participate in the development of more junior team members and engage in business development activities.
Qualifications
* Qualified solicitor with 5–10 years PQE, or proven relevant legal experience.
* Experience of indemnity, liability and quantum is essential.
* Experience of credit hire desired.
* Experience of cases involving complex medical issues preferred.
* Critical thinking and quantum analysis experience required.
* Good telephone advocacy skills; excellent listening, verbal and written communication.
* Strong advocacy skills and excellent client care and interpersonal skills.
* Understanding of case law, litigation practice and process, and Court Practice Rules.
* Ability to plan, prioritise workloads, meet deadlines and work under pressure.
* Excellent analytical skills and attention to detail; ability to weigh facts, apply the law and make decisions.
* Ability to anticipate problems and identify solutions; calm under pressure and able to delegate effectively when required.
* Confidence to take initiative, innovate and adapt to changing situations; willingness to seek guidance when needed.
* Ability to follow instructions and provide clear instruction, direction and guidance to junior team members.
Working Hours
35 hours per week, Monday – Friday 9am – 5pm with 1 unpaid hour for lunch. Primary location: Belfast Office.
