About The Role
National Energy System Operator (NESO) is looking for a Threat Intelligence Senior Analyst to join the Threat Intelligence Group (TIG). The role involves providing a single source of physical and cyber threat intelligence, advising on the threat landscape to NESO and the wider energy sector, monitoring operational threats, managing risk exposure and delivering insights to support security operations.
Key Accountabilities
Delivery
* Analyse a variety of security threats and communicate findings to NESO and the wider energy sector.
* Use digital technology and data insights to identify requirements and develop both physical and cyber threat intelligence outputs.
* Collate, record, evaluate, analyse, and disseminate all source intelligence reporting with a focus on outputs relevant to NESO and the wider energy sector.
* Provide primary and secondary source intelligence reports and threat assessments to support operational awareness.
* Deliver information in formal reports, presentations and briefings to internal and external customers.
Outreach
* Engage stakeholders and maintain relationships to provide intelligence fusion opportunities.
* Maintain relationships with customers to understand their intelligence requirements.
* Maintain relationships with government and energy sector stakeholders to improve understanding of threat intelligence for NESO and the wider energy sector.
* Take active involvement in industry forums and research groups.
Subject Matter Expertise
* Implement the intelligence cycle effectively to advance understanding of current and emerging threats.
* Support knowledge sharing between the Threat Intelligence function and other teams.
* Observe strict non‑disclosure rules about your work, the extent of which may vary.
* Conduct analysis and research to determine the identity, motivations, relationships, targets/victims, capabilities, tooling and infrastructure of threat actors relevant to NESO and the whole energy sector.
About You
* Team player and experienced at working in multi‑disciplinary and diverse teams.
* Proven analytical skills and capable of solving new and complex problems.
* Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to communicate the impact and importance of detailed technical information to non‑technical and senior audiences.
* Building and maintaining relationships with customers and stakeholders.
* Previous experience in critical national infrastructure or similar sector, involving the analysis and delivery of threat intelligence.
Qualifications
* Degree‑level qualification or equivalent experience with a strong background in intelligence and threat analysis.
* Ideally additional professional security qualifications/certifications in appropriate areas, and an understanding of the cyber and physical threat landscape.

* Competitive salary of £49,000–£55,000 dependent on experience and capability.
