SEND Specialist Tutor Job - 1:1, Newquay
Prospero Teaching is looking for SEND Specialist Tutors to deliver bespoke tuition packages on a 1:1 basis to young people with SEND who cannot currently access mainstream education.
The Opportunity
We are looking for inspirational tutors around Newquay to support children and young people with SEND. Many children with SEND have been disengaged from their learning. We support pupils who have struggled to stay in the classroom, feel too anxious to go to school, or whose needs aren’t sufficiently supported at school.
Responsibilities
As a SEND Specialist Tutor you will create, plan and deliver 1:1 tailored lessons to bridge gaps in a pupil’s education and boost attainment levels. You may be an experienced tutor, teacher, or have experience working with children in a therapeutic way. Key duties include:
* Supporting and re‑engaging a pupil in their learning
* Offering structure back into their daily routine
* Continuing their educational development and facilitating a return to school
* Providing weekly reports on pupil progress to Prospero
Contract and Position Details
* Location: Various locations across Newquay
* Position: SEND Specialist Tutor
* Type of work: Contract
* Start date: ASAP
* Duration: Until the pupil is able to reintegrate into a mainstream or special school
* Contract type: Temporary
* Hours: Part‑time (6–15 hours per week, per student)
* Minimum rate of pay: £25 per hour (negotiable)
* Working hours can be adapted based on family convenience
Experience, Training and Qualifications
* QTS or equivalent
* UK classroom teaching experience
* Experience working with young people with ASD or ADHD (essential)
* Creative, patient, and willing to think outside the box
* Experience with challenging behaviour and disengaged pupils
Eligibility Requirements
* Right to work in the UK
* Enhanced child barred list DBS certificate registered with the online update service (or willingness to obtain one)
* Two professional child‑related references
