Overview
A great opportunity has arisen for a Speech and Language Therapist to join our community team in Rochdale as a Specialist Speech and Language Therapist.
Responsibilities
We offer domiciliary visits to patients who are in their own home, a care home or a clinic setting as determined by their need. We see a wide variety of patients including elderly care, patients with a range of acquired neurological disorders and dysfluency. Communication skills are vital, as are organisational skills and a flexible approach to everyday practice. The service also provides SLT in reach to the acute medical and IMC wards based at Rochdale Infirmary. The successful candidate will have access to supervision, training and mentorship.
This post will require you to have specialist skills in managing adults with a broad range of acquired communication and swallowing difficulties and should be able to develop and deliver patient‑centred treatment plans in order to support patients to achieve the best recovery that they can.
The post is also open to new Band 5 staff as well as experienced staff, and for the right candidate a development role may be considered.
The post holder will be responsible for managing a clinical caseload and delivering assessment and rehabilitation for patients with dysphagia and/or communication impairments across the community settings.
You will have opportunities to contribute to service development and quality improvement projects. The Comunity SLT Team has recently undertaken training in Quality Improvement methodology and now actively applies this approach to enhance service delivery.
