Early Careers Assistant (14-month FTC)
Are you ready to make your mark as part of our Early Careers Team in our London Office?
We are seeking a high-calibre individual to provide comprehensive support to the Early Careers function across all processes and events. This role will play a key part in the successful delivery of our Early Careers recruitment and development programmes, ensuring a seamless and high-quality experience for candidates and internal stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Early Careers Recruitment:
* Responding to candidate and stakeholder queries via email and telephone
* Screening applications using the application tracking system (ATS), AllHires, and communicating outcomes through the ATS
* Assisting with organizing Early Careers programmes and events, including open days, insight schemes, vacation schemes, assessment centres, and recruitment events
* Co-ordinating room bookings, catering, name badges/cards, presenters, and social activities for events
* Scheduling interviews and feedback calls in collaboration with the HR Operations team, ensuring timely collection of feedback
* Managing candidate administration processes, including scanning academic certificates, conducting reference and right to work checks, and processing travel reimbursements
* Preparing candidate feedback packs and generating/sending offer paperwork
* Co-ordinating law fairs, careers dinners, and ad-hoc recruitment events, including managing bookings, giveaways, representative attendance, and associated travel and accommodation
* Building relationships with university careers services and law societies to co-ordinate sponsorships and maximize campus engagement opportunities
* Administering reference checks via HireRight
* Managing onboarding processes for Early Careers joiners with support from the HR Operations team
* Attending UK law fairs, careers dinners, and recruitment events, with overnight stays required during the Milkround season from September to November
* Supporting and attending Early Careers events, such as vacation schemes, open days, insight schemes, and solicitor apprentice/trainee inductions, including evening commitments
Early Careers Development:
* Maintaining and updating the future trainee database
* Administering payment of law school fees and maintenance grants for future trainees
* Managing the onboarding process for trainee solicitors, ensuring smooth transitions
* Monitoring and tracking trainee development by ensuring required training diary entries are submitted in ‘Unity’ and preparing monthly reports for the Training Principal and Manager, Early Careers Development
* Assisting with planning and co-ordinating future trainee social and networking events
* Maintaining and managing trainee employee files, ensuring records are accurate and up-to-date
* Drafting and issuing trainee-related correspondence, including letters for references, leave requests, salary amendments, start date changes, and leavers
* Supporting the Solicitor Apprenticeship Programme (SAP) induction, including onboarding, sourcing presenters, and overall co-ordination
Additional Responsibilities:
* Providing support for team overflow work and covering during periods of absence (holiday/sickness)
* Managing the invoice and expense process for Early Careers activities
* Undertaking ad hoc administration and co-ordination tasks to support the wider Early Careers team as needed
Qualifications and skills
* Prior experience and knowledge of the Early Careers market is desirable
* Experience within a professional services environment is an advantage
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills
* Client service oriented with a credible and professional approach
* Strong attention to detail and commitment to high levels of accuracy
* A collaborative team player with a proactive and “can-do” attitude
* Strong organisational skills with the ability to prioritise and manage multiple tasks effectively

Location and Reporting
This role is based in our London office, and reports to the Manager, Early Careers Recruitment and the Manager, Early Careers Development.
Our standard office hours are 09:30-18:00, with a current requirement for 3 days in the office per week.
