What's involved with this role: Job Title: Business Support Officer Ref: Cheshire W 5268874 Pay rate: £13.26 per hour PAYE The role: We are seeking a dynamic Business Support Officer to provide business and administrative support within the Safeguarding Children Unit. You will receive and action requests from Children Social Care and Partner Agencies to set up a range of multi-agency child protection meetings, via electronic referrals telephone or email. You will organise and facilitate these meetings: agreeing invite lists, sending out invitations, agreeing and distributing agendas, booking rooms, collating and distributing confidential reports and preparing meeting packs for the meeting chair. You will deliver high standard minutes in relation to complex, sensitive and emotionally demanding child protection meetings and produce documentation with statutory timescales as detailed within national and local guidance. Key responsibilities: Update children’s electronic records within 24 hours after child protection conferences to keep local authority data accurate and current Support Unit Managers with financial admin systems (Oracle, Comensura), handling purchase requisitions, orders, and payments to ensure efficient budget management Receive and prioritise Safeguarding Children Unit requests via email, phone, or post; respond or escalate to maintain service levels Maintain and monitor SCU databases and information systems, ensuring data accuracy, quality, and accessibility to meet statutory and local requirements Handle internal and external communications sensitively and discreetly, providing up-to-date advice while securing and appropriately distributing data per regulations Alert Unit Managers to service shortfalls that risk child safety, compliance, or the reputation Assist with research and data analysis for service reviews, presenting clear findings to support management decisions What the client is looking for: A minimum of 5 GCSE’s A to C including English and Maths ECDL or equivalent or evidence of working towards Organisational skills Experience of managing administrative and information systems Knowledge of Council financial regulations and procedures Knowledge, experience and awareness of work procedures necessary in administration and finance Excellent communication skills Microsoft Office, in particular Word, Excel, Outlook, Access and other databases, to include ORACLE Data input skills Minute taking skills and good efficient typing skills Please quote the Job Title & Vacancy Reference No. in your application, or we will be unable to match your CV to the role being applied for.
