Job Description:
This role is responsible for specialist payroll support in the delivery of the UK and Crown Dependency payrolls. The role manages critical payroll activity to ensure the accurate and timely delivery of the monthly payroll, including running the gross to net calculations, providing input to change projects, and administering legislative documentation such as P60 and P11D. The role also provides effective management of escalations for the tier 2 payroll team, offering guidance and support until resolution.
To be successful as a Payroll Specialist, you must have:
* Extensive experience in payroll administration and support at an expert level.
* Decision-making skills that consider policy, legislation, operational performance, and team deliverables.
* Proven success in driving process and procedural change initiatives from conception to implementation.
You may be assessed on key skills such as risk and controls, change and transformation, business acumen, strategic thinking, digital and technology skills, as well as job-specific technical skills.
Contract Duration: 12 months, full-time, located in Northampton.
Purpose of the role
Manage payroll functions, including calculating employee pay, withholding taxes, and maintaining accurate payroll records, while resolving complex pay queries.

* Administering employee payroll records and troubleshooting issues.
* Providing guidance and support to employees on payroll matters.
* Handling statutory filings and liaising with tax authorities.
* Ensuring timely and high-standard payroll activities, with a focus on continuous improvement.
* Leading or developing technical expertise within the team.
* Supervising team members, supporting professional development, and managing work allocation.
* Demonstrating leadership behaviors if in a leadership role, including listening, inspiring, aligning, and developing others.
* Developing technical expertise and acting as an advisor.
