Role Overview
The successful candidate will work as part of a specialist team responsible for assessing and underwriting known tax exposures arising from transactions, restructurings, or ongoing disputes. You will be involved in reviewing documentation, interpreting technical positions, and drafting tailored policy wordings to mitigate identified liabilities.
Key responsibilities will include:
* Evaluating legal and tax analysis to determine risk profile and insurability
* Preparing policy wordings and structuring coverage terms in line with underwriting strategy
* Engaging with brokers, legal counsel, and clients to understand transaction structures and clarify technical matters
* Supporting the broader underwriting process through research, internal knowledge sharing, and market insight
Candidate Profile
We are seeking individuals with:
* A background in tax law (NQ–2 years PQE) or a tax advisory role (Assistant Manager level or similar) within a Big 4 or top-tier accountancy firm
* Demonstrable experience in drafting tax advice or legal documentation
* Strong analytical and communication skills, with the ability to distil complex tax issues into clear, commercial reasoning
* A genuine interest in transactional work and the broader commercial implications of tax risk
No prior underwriting experience is required; full training will be provided.
