Are you an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer?\n \n Do you have experience in the water sector (WWTW, clean water or Sewage networks)\n \n Do you have previous experience of working on AMP cycles?\n \n Duration - 12 months + (ongoing likely) \n Hours - 40 hrs\n Rate - £50-60 LTD (subject to an ir35 assessment confirming outside status)\n Location - Hybrid (3 days from the Stretford, Manchester office, 2 days from home)\n\nThe Opportunity\n A leading engineering consultancy is seeking an experienced Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join their water division. You will be involved in delivering complex design solutions, providing technical leadership, and supporting the development of future engineers. This is a long-term opportunity offering a varied workload and the chance to contribute to essential infrastructure projects.\n We would also welcome applications from professionals within utilities, power generation, process engineering, chemical, and environmental sectors.\n \nThis role would suit candidates working as Senior Mechanical Engineer, Principal Design Engineer, Lead Mechanical Designer, Water Design Engineer, Hydraulic Engineer, Mechanical Project Engineer, M&E Design Engineer, Wastewater Engineer, Process Design Engineer, or Infrastructure Design Engineer.\n \n Your duties and responsibilities will be\n\nDeliver design solutions that meet stringent safety, quality, and regulatory requirements\nProduce detailed design calculations, specifications, and drawings for clean and wastewater projects\nOversee, guide, and mentor CAD technicians, junior engineers, and graduates\nCoordinate and review the work of subcontracted M&E design teams\nLiaise with equipment suppliers and manufacturers to ensure technical compliance\nPrepare technical reports, design studies, and supporting documentation\nEnsure all designs align with industry standards, company procedures, and project requirements\nManage and record design changes throughout project lifecycles\nProvide accurate estimates of engineering hours for design packages\nRepresent the design team at client meetings and technical presentations\n You will have the following qualifications and experience\n\nAround 5 years’ mechanical design experience\nStrong background in hydraulic design and water-related projects\nWorking knowledge of electrical and control systems design\nDegree or HND in a relevant engineering discipline\nMembership of a professional body and working towards chartership (or already achieved)\n Desirable\n\nChartered Engineer status\nAdditional experience in electrical or control engineering\nKnowledge of wastewater and clean water treatment processes\nAwareness of construction methods and engineering drawing practicesMillbank Holdings Ltd is an equal opportunities employer committed to creating an inclusive and diverse workforce.
