This role would suit a technically strong Process Engineer who enjoys being close to operations, driving improvements on the plant, and seeing their ideas translate into real-world results.
The Role
As a Process Engineer, you will play a key role in optimising manufacturing processes to improve yield, quality, throughput, and overall plant performance. You’ll work closely with operations and other engineering functions, providing hands‑on technical support while also leading structured improvement and innovation projects.
You will be involved in day‑to‑day plant activity as well as longer‑term continuous improvement initiatives, helping to ensure processes are safe, stable, efficient, and scalable.
Key Responsibilities
* Drive improvements in process performance, cost efficiency, and technology within a defined manufacturing area
* Carry out regular process audits and monitor key control parameters, identifying and resolving deviations
* Monitor and optimise energy and fuel consumption while maintaining product quality
* Work closely with operators to develop and embed robust control plans across shifts
* Use PLC and process control tools, in collaboration with other engineering disciplines, to reduce variation
* Apply statistical techniques to analyse data and reduce process variability
* Provide day‑to‑day technical support to operations, supporting troubleshooting and decision‑making
* Lead and contribute to continuous improvement and process innovation projects using methodologies such as DMAIC, Six Sigma, and Stage‑Gate
* Facilitate process meetings to ensure alignment on performance targets and changes
* Support quality and measurement systems in collaboration with the Quality team
What We’re Looking For
Qualifications (non‑negotiable)
Master’s degree in Chemical Engineering (MEng or equivalent)
Experience
* Background in chemical manufacturing or a similarly high‑hazard process environment
* Strong understanding of core chemical engineering principles and process optimisation
* Experience working closely with production teams in a plant‑based role
Desirable
* Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent
* Awareness of ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and ISO 45001
* IOSH Managing Safely or similar H&S qualification
