Here at GXO, we are recruiting for an Operations Manager to join our team in Reading, supporting our customer, Waitrose. You’ll provide leadership and guidance for your team, ensuring that they have all the tools they need to do their job and that the operation runs smoothly. This is a freezer warehouse, so you’ll need to be used to a chilly environment! You’ll lead the operation from the front, getting the best of your team and driving the site to continued success.
This is a full-time, permanent position, primarily Monday to Friday, 08:00–16:00, with some flexibility required.

Responsibilities
* Coordinate the operation effectively, ensuring that resources are managed and used to deliver and improve customer service levels and KPIs within budgeted costs.
* Manage a team of Shift Managers, understanding challenges and successes on each shift and giving them what they need to lead their teams.
* Focus on optimisation, cost-saving, QSHE and continuous improvement, identifying opportunities for process enhancement and increased efficiency.
* Build a strong working relationship with the customer and the wider on-site operational teams, including unions.
Qualifications
* Previous experience as an Operations Manager or similar level role in a large, fast-paced warehousing environment, ideally with exposure to food logistics.
* The ability to lead, develop and mentor a large, diverse operational team, recognising talent and inspiring them to success.
* Be enthusiastic, driven and have a can-do attitude, as well as having the ability to think outside of the box and demonstrate true entrepreneurial spirit.
* Generally strong IT skills, especially Microsoft Office packages (such as Word or Excel) and warehouse management systems.
