Job Introduction
An opportunity is available for a Business Resilience Specialist to undertake Business Continuity Planning throughout the NGED business. Based in the Control Centre team in Operations, this role will support colleagues in all departments within NGED.
The role base is Pegasus, Castle Donington. However, the successful candidate may work from any NGED office, understanding they may need to attend meetings in person at Pegasus, or other locations within the business.
A higher-level qualification in Business Resilience / Continuity Planning is required for this role – this would ideally be at degree level or could be a level 4 or higher qualification in a closely associated subject supported by demonstrable experience in the field.
Project and/or programme management experience is required for this role.
Evidence of your qualification certificates will be required prior to appointment.
As part of our hybrid working approach this role offers a mix of office and home working. Hybrid working can only be considered once your initial training is complete and subject to business need.
Depending on experience, you may initially be appointed at a lower salary until all relevant courses and training are complete.
Main Responsibilities
Some Of The Key Duties Will Be
* Implementing different facets of the Business Continuity Management cycle, including Supporting Business Partners and Subject Matter Experts within NGED to develop and maintain Business Continuity Plans and Business Impact Analysis (BIAs.).
* Seeking opportunities to advance business resilience and continuity within NGED, developing new best-practices and continuous programme improvement.
* Challenging the norms so as to facilitate a constant improvement cycle of business continuity.
* Collaborating and building cross functional partnerships across the organisations such as corporate service partners, business unit management and the Business Resiliency community.
* Ensuring Business Continuity practices within NGED are aligned and compliant with NG Group requirements, liaising with Group Functions.
* Collaboration with, and management of stakeholders as necessary.
* Managing projects and programmes associated with resilience and business continuity.
* Supporting test exercises and drive the testing of Controls.
* Participation in specific or special projects as required.
* Delivering presentations and liaising with senior leadership.
* Other reasonable tasks that contribute to the business continuity and continuous operations of the National Grid Electricity Distribution business.
Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate should Ideally have a minimum of 3 years’ experience in the fields of business continuity planning or resilience.
A Business Continuity Institute (BCI) certification would be advantageous. However, Candidates without this accreditation may be asked to work towards it in-role.
It is a UK Government Requirement that persons employed in this role must undertake a Security Clearance (SC) check.
Requirements
As the post you are applying for attracts a National Security Vetting clearance there are further eligibility requirements, information can be found on the gov.uk website. To meet national security vetting requirements you will normally need to have been resident in the UK for at least 5 years for Security Clearance (SC) prior to the date of application. There are exceptions to this however and examples of these include:
* you have been serving overseas with HM Forces or in some other official capacity as a representative of HM Government
* you were studying abroad
* you were living overseas with parents
