Job overview

The function of the Barts BioResource (BBR) Team Lead is to demonstrate critical thinking in clinical and administrative decision making. They will initiate and co-ordinate research projects in addition to running the Barts Bioresource. They will also act as co-ordinator and adviser to the other members of the team, patients and hospital staff. They will assist in the support of the BBR research project within the Barts Heart Centre (BHC) working within the multi- disciplinary team, taking responsibility for the co-ordination and management of research studies allocated to the BBR within Barts Health NHS.

Main duties of the job

The postholder will be allocated to areas specific to the BBR, however will also be expected to be flexible and on occasion may have to cover sites based on caseload and capacity to take on extra work. As well as working with clinical investigators, you will also work collaboratively with multi-disciplinary care teams involved in the management of clinical trial patients on studies to which you are assigned.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities

The purpose of the BBR is to establish and grow a dynamic health data repository and linked biobank of consented patients managed by Barts Health NHS Trust to allow research into health and disease. The BBR relies on the donation of human blood, saliva, swabs, urine, faeces and soft/solid tissue.

The post is based at Queen Mary University London, will operate across the Barts NHS Trust Hospitals and is subject to successful completion of DBS check. It is full time (37.5 hours per week) and fixed term for 1 year in the first instance. The salary will be Band AfC 7, inclusive of London Allowance.
