About Us For over 90 years, Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware has impacted thousands of lives across Delaware. We are the largest licensed provider of childcare in Delaware and the only statewide Boys & Girls Club in the nation. Job Summary Under the supervision of the Childcare or Club Director, the Transportation Coordinator oversees the safe, efficient, and timely transportation of members and staff by planning routes, scheduling drivers, ensuring compliance with transportation policies, and serving as the primary point of contact for related logistics. Essential Functions: Perform all job responsibilities in compliance with current state licensing requirements for Child Care centers; address non-compliance issues as needed or directed. Develop and adjust daily, weekly, or seasonal transportation schedules to meet program or organizational needs. Help ensure safe implementation of all programs and activities. This involves, but is not limited to: condition of equipment and facilities, age-appropriateness, ability levels, weather, appropriate use of equipment and supplies. Assist Childcare or Club Director in supervising children within guidelines established by Boys & Girls Clubs of Delaware, and in compliance with applicable state licensing regulations. Assist Childcare or Club Director in maintaining productive relationships with parents, school faculty and administrators and staff, and other visitors to the Club. Assign and communicate routes and schedules to drivers; ensure adequate staffing for all trips and shifts. Ensure all transportation activities comply with local, state, and federal regulations, including safety protocols, licensing, and inspections. Schedule regular inspections, maintenance, and repairs; maintain accurate vehicle maintenance logs. Maintain accurate records of routes, driver hours, mileage, fuel usage, and incident reports. Respond promptly to accidents, breakdowns, or other emergencies; coordinate necessary support and documentation. Support drivers with training on safety protocols, customer service expectations, and company policies. Present yourself as a positive role model for children at all times. Assume other tasks, assignments and responsibilities as needed or directed. Minimum Qualifications: High school diploma or equivalent Prior experience in transportation Knowledge of transportation regulations and safety standards Valid driver’s license (CDL may be required depending on vehicles) Must be able to pass an FBI clearance, State of Delaware Criminal History Background Check, National and State Sexual Abuse Registry check, and National and State Child Abuse Registry Check per DelaCare regulations. Environmental and Working Conditions: Environmental and working conditions vary from indoors to outdoors; various meeting locations in and out of the Club; occasional statewide travel (e.g. training). Employees are subject to transfer from one department to another and from one club/school site to another as the needs of the organization change. Physical and Mental Requirements: Maintain a high energy level. Be comfortable working with children ages 3 – 16 Frequently lifts, carries or otherwise moves and positions objects weighing up to 25 pounds when preparing rooms for activities. Typically bends, stoops, walks and sometimes runs on a regular basis while interacting with children in various activities throughout the day. Ability to perform duties effectively under stressful conditions; ability to make decisions quickly and accurately with tact and impartiality Ability to understand and follow verbal and written instructions and communicate effectively both verbally and in writing Work Hours: Monday - Friday, 6:30AM to 9:00AM/ 2:00 pm to 6:00 PM. Typically scheduled to work, 7 to 8 hour shifts each day with some flexibility.
