Role Overview

As a Configuration Management Engineering Technician at our Lakeside site, you will play a critical role in maintaining the integrity of Royal Navy and Royal Fleet Auxiliary Surface Ship definitions. Working within the Master Record Data Centre (MRDC) team, you will help ensure millions of records remain accurate and accessible, supporting national defence and maritime operations.
Responsibilities
* Screen and extract relevant data from technical documents, drawings, and specifications to maintain ship fit definitions in SSDD.
* Ensure all tasks comply with project procedures and quality plans, identifying improvements where possible.
* Support other Configuration Engineers and collaborate across teams.
* Undertake ship visits to support configuration audits.
* Update SSDD while considering impacts on data interfaces and schedules.
Essential Experience
* Ability to interpret technical data from drawings and documentation.
* Strong communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
* IT literacy, ideally with experience using Configuration Management tools (e.g., SSDD).
* Engineering experience desirable, particularly within MoD maritime environments.
* Team‑oriented with the ability to present technical data clearly.
Qualifications
* ONC or equivalent engineering academic qualification.
The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
