Abbeyfield Living Society has been a leading provider of housing and care for older people for almost 70 years. We are dedicated to exceptional care and rely on a dedicated team. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Deputy Care & Housing Manager at Ing Royde Extra Care Home service, based in Halifax, Yorkshire.
Location: Ing Royde, Broomfield Avenue, Halifax, West Yorkshire, England, HX3 0JE
Hours: 24 over 3 days
Salary: £21,840.00
Role
 * Monitoring the resident’s nutritional and hydration needs
 * Staff training
 * Delivering hands‑on care when required
 * Create, manage and amend risk assessments, both at a strategic and operational level, ensuring staff follow procedures
 * Communicate regularly with the Manager on events that occurred in absence and step in to cover gaps where needed
 * Ensure effective communication of key information within the staff group and to residents as required
 * Act as a role model for all staff, demonstrating professionalism, good manners, and customer service
 * Report to management on any items that need repair or maintenance and ensure follow‑up
 * Staff supervision and appraisals
Skills & Experience
 * Level 3 Diploma in Health & Social Care (or equivalent) or minimum of 3 years experience in a similar senior or management role in a registered service.
 * Strong working knowledge of the Health and Social Care Act 2009 (regulated activities), CQC Registration Regulations 2009, Care Act 2014/2015.
 * Ability to undertake daily running of the home under the direction of the General Manager.
 * Passionate about delivering high‑quality care for older people.
 * Proficient with information technology – use of IT systems, e‑mail and text.
 * Strong influencing and professional relationship building skills; ability to facilitate meetings or support groups.
 * Strong people leadership and management skills, able to get the best out of teams.
 * Experience in managing staffing budgets.
