An exciting opportunity to join our city-wide CAMHS Learning Disability and Mental Health Team, delivering specialist in-reach support to children's homes for young people with autism, ADHD, learning disabilities and complex needs.

You'll work collaboratively across health, education and social care, using Positive Behaviour Support to provide holistic, person-centred care. This role offers autonomy, clinical leadership, and the chance to shape service development while managing your own caseload under expert supervision.

Main duties of the job

Reporting into the Clinical Nurse Specialist, your responsibilities will include:

* Deliver specialist nursing care for children and young people with learning disabilities and/or mental health conditions.
* Act as a clinical resource within the In Reach CAMHS Team.
* Provide evidence-based interventions for moderate to severe mental health issues.
* Deliver and support training for staff, parents, and external services.
* Participate in regular clinical and management supervision.
* Ensure compliance with statutory and mandatory training.
* Identify and communicate training needs to support clinical responsibilities.

Person Specification


Qualifications

* Registered Learning Disability Nurse Registered Mental Health Nurse/Registered Nurse (LD) or (MH)
* ENB998 or equivalent qualification in the mentoring and teaching of students
* Active Registration
* Registered Social Worker
* Qualified as an independent nurse prescriber or willing to train


Experience

* Extensive post registration experience working as a nurse with people with learning disabilities in a CAMHS or other health setting
* Recent experience of working with children or young people with learning disabilities
* Experience of working with people with mental health needs


Knowledge & Skills

* Have a good understanding of the demands of working with children and young people with learning disabilities and mental health problems / challenging behaviour
* Knowledge of relevant legislation, national initiatives and guidance, and of own professional code of practice, role and responsibilities
* Knowledge of up-to-date clinical aspects of learning disability nursing and mental health/challenging behaviour in the community
* Good assessment skills, the ability to assess risk and care plan effectively
* Ability to work as a member of the multi-disciplinary team Good I. T. skills
* Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage time effectively
* Ability to communicate information both written and oral and present this effectively
* Good interpersonal skills
* Knowledge of Positive Behavioural Support practice
* Experience of working in a community based multi-disciplinary team


Personal Attributes

* An understanding of the needs of children and young people with learning disabilities and mental health problems / challenging behaviour
* An ability to provide nursing mentorship and training to students
* The ability to work under pressure and take action to manage stress
* A flexible approach to client intervention
* Ability to meet time scales and deadlines
* Car owner / driver and hold a full current driving licence
* To be able to work in a flexible manner to meet the demands of the service and support families
