Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role located in Halifax for a Quarry Mechanical / Plant Maintenance Engineer. The role involves maintaining and repairing machinery used in quarry operations to ensure continuous and safe production. The position also involves collaborating with operations staff to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Responsibilities
* Maintain and repair machinery used in quarry operations to ensure continuous and safe production.
* Conduct routine maintenance, diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical issues, and perform repairs.
* Ensure equipment compliance with safety standards and relevant regulations.
* Collaborate with operations staff to optimize equipment performance and minimize downtime.
Qualifications
* Proficiency in mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of heavy machinery used in quarry or industrial operations
* Knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanical systems
* Experience with preventive maintenance and implementing repair schedules
* Familiarity with workplace safety standards, risk assessments, and compliance
* Ability to read and interpret mechanical diagrams, schematics, and technical manuals
* Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and a proactive approach to maintenance
* Capability to work effectively as part of a team and independently under minimal supervision
* Relevant certifications, vocational training, or a degree in mechanical engineering, plant maintenance, or a similar field
* Experience in the quarry or construction industry is preferred but not required
