Position Overview:
As a Multi-Skilled Engineer, you will be responsible for providing both mechanical and electrical maintenance support across our manufacturing plant. You will play a key role in minimising downtime, improving efficiency, and ensuring all equipment operates at optimal levels. This is a hands-on role that requires a proactive approach to maintenance and troubleshooting, with the opportunity to contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the business.
Key Responsibilities:
* Maintenance and Repairs: Perform both reactive and planned preventative maintenance on a variety of manufacturing equipment, including packaging lines, conveyors, and other machinery.
* Troubleshooting: Quickly identify faults and breakdowns in mechanical, electrical, and control systems, ensuring minimal disruption to production.
* Continuous Improvement: Contribute to continuous improvement projects, focusing on reducing downtime, improving reliability, and enhancing overall equipment efficiency (OEE).
* Safety Compliance: Ensure all work is carried out in compliance with health and safety regulations, maintaining a safe working environment for yourself and your colleagues.
* Documentation: Keep accurate records of all maintenance work, breakdowns, and inspections in line with company procedures.
* Collaboration: Work closely with production teams to understand maintenance requirements and prioritise work to ensure optimal production schedules are met.
* Skills Development: Stay up to date with the latest technologies and industry best practices to continuously improve your skillset and knowledge base.
Key Skills and Experience:
* Proven experience as a Multi-Skilled Engineer within an FMCG or manufacturing environment.
* Strong background in both mechanical and electrical engineering, with the ability to work on a wide range of equipment and systems.
* Experience with PLCs, control systems, and automated machinery is essential.
* Strong diagnostic and problem-solving skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks effectively.
* Understanding of health and safety regulations and a commitment to maintaining high safety standards.
* Excellent communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, manuals, and schematics.
* Ideally, a formal engineering qualification (e.g. HNC, HND, or equivalent) in electrical or mechanical engineering, or relevant experience.
Desirable:
* Experience working in a high-volume, fast-paced FMCG or production environment.
* Familiarity with continuous improvement methodologies such as Lean or Six Sigma.
* Knowledge of CMMS (Computerised Maintenance Management Systems).
