Clinical Lead for Breast Imaging (SBH and Networked Service)

Reporting to the Clinical Director for General Imaging at St Bartholomew’s, this is a 3-year appointment to a Clinical Lead role working closely with the Senior Leadership Team, to support and develop clinical leadership for the Breast Imaging department. The role will be pivotal in fostering a cohesive multidisciplinary team and a culture of learning and innovation, underpinned by the Trust’s WeCare Values. It is envisioned this role will be a 2 Programmed Activity (8 hours) per week commitment in your job plan, however this can be negotiated and is subject to confirmation on appointment.1 PA for leadership and management of the department (for the duration of the appointment) and 1 PA service development linked to the Breast Transformation Strategy and establishment of a Breast Cancer Centre of Excellence at St Bartholomew’s Hospital (for the initial 12 months following successful appointment to the role) i.e. 2 PAs for the first year in the role and 1 PA for the subsequent 2 years.”
Main duties of the job
The Clinical Lead will lead and direct a multi-disciplinary specialty team of clinical staff in delivering the priorities, goals and objectives agreed with the Clinical Director for Imaging (SBH) and the Barts Clinical Support Service Director across the following domains:

The postholder will be accountable for the overall performance of the team, service and area in delivering national and local health care priorities, ensuring clinical quality, patient safety, and improving patient experience.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
·To provide visionary leadership to the specialty medical workforce and senior clinical leaders.
·To assist the Clinical Director, Divisional Director and Medical Director in supporting medical workforce development, contribution to service excellence and efficiency, good patient experience and professionalism
·To assist the Clinical Director and Divisional Director in providing senior clinical leadership with respect to quality, governance and improvement throughout the specialty.
·To provide a clear sense of direction for the service area expressed in a clinical strategy which is aligned to site and Clinical Board strategic direction and priorities.
·To promote personal accountability at all levels, inspiring all staff to strive for continuous improvements in the services provided.
·To seek out concerns about clinical quality, patient safety, or patient experience, ensuring that clinical teams are supported to address these within the Being Open framework.
·To work as a member of an effective senior team to develop clinical leaders at every level.
·To act as a good employer, including active staff engagement and two-way dialogue with staff
·To embed annual consultant appraisals within correct timeframes.
