Job Description
The M40 motorway is 123 km long, linking London and the M25 with Birmingham. The role is for routine O & M services and includes provision of a dedicated incident response unit, managing road incidents, availability bookings and running the Network Control Centre. The contract covers over 110 staff at 3 depots.
Mission & Main Activities
* Support the Day Works Manager with day‑to‑day administration and maintenance tasks in the depot.
* Maintain accurate records, liaise with the Facilities and Fleet Coordinators to ensure timely administration of depot tasks.
* Ensure the depot is safe, efficient and operationally ready.
* Assist with deliveries, coordinate material and equipment requests, and support daily operations, ensuring correct paperwork is sent.
* Maintain inventory records of materials and equipment.
* Carry out general depot maintenance activities (vegetation work, litter picking, painting).
* Coordinate vehicle replacements, new vehicles and general repairs.
* Review operational activities and ensure data capture and records are produced.
* Produce requisition forms for ordering materials and liaise for delivery.
* Provide general depot administration support.
* Ensure access gates are manned and answered in a timely manner.
* Promote and develop teamwork.
* Perform other related duties as required.
Qualifications
* Experience in general maintenance activities.
* Basic computer skills.
* Full UK Driving Licence.
* HGV Licence (desirable).
* Telehandler/Forklift experience (desirable).
* Physically fit for general maintenance and unloading deliveries.
* Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
* Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
* A collaborative mindset and commitment to health and safety.
* Willingness to undertake internal training, including road space booking and environmental systems.
