Teaching Assistant

Location: Scarborough, North Yorkshire

Start Date: ASAP
Salary: £83 - £100 per day

Are you passionate about making a difference in the lives of young people? Do you have a knack for supporting students with special needs? If so, we want you to join our dedicated team at an excellent Client Secondary School in Scarborough, North Yorkshire, to join asa Teaching Assistant, starting as soon as possible.

About the School:

* The school was rated as “Good” by Ofsted in 2024.
* The school supports a large number of students with a range of Special Needs and Disabilities.
* They have a comprehensive pastoral framework based on a caring ideology that fosters healthy relationships by promoting high standards and encouraged challenge.
* With an emphasis on communication and cognition, the school's Semi-Formal curriculum is broken down into six sections.
* In Key Stages 3 and 4, their goal is to promote independence and communication through relevant, real-world experiences, with a focus on the transference of skills.
* Throughout the academic year, the school hosts a number of signature events as part of its careers program.
* They pride ourselves on delivering tailored education that meets the unique needs of each student, fostering their academic, social, and emotional development.

Teaching Assistant Responsibilities:

* Provide targeted support to students with Special Educational Needs, working 1:1 or in small group.
* Assist students in accessing the full curriculum.
* Create and adapt learning materials that cater to the diverse needs of SEN students.
* Track and assess student progress, providing regular feedback to teachers, the Inclusion team, and parents to inform future planning.
* Engage in ongoing professional development opportunities to stay current with best practices in education and SEN support.

Teaching Assistant Requirements:

* Relevant qualifications (e.g., Level 3 Certificate in Supporting Teaching and Learning).
* Proven experience working with SEN students, preferably within a secondary school setting.
* Strong ability to work collaboratively with teaching staff, the Inclusion team, and other professionals to create a supportive and effective learning environment.
* A creative and energetic approach that engages and inspires students.
* Hold an Enhanced DBS registered to the update service or be happy to apply for a new one.
