A specialist Manufacturing organisation are currently looking for an Engineering Manager to lead their Engineering Department in all technical functions — including R&D, design, and manufacturing. This is an exciting opportunity for a proactive and innovative professional to take ownership of engineering performance, drive technical excellence, and support the continued development of a broad product range.
Reporting directly to the Managing Director, you will lead, mentor, and develop a small team of engineers, plan workloads, set priorities, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. You’ll play a key role in delivering high-quality engineering solutions that meet customer expectations and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
* Oversee engineering design, documentation, and system integration.
* Manage and support a team of engineers, ensuring projects are delivered on time and to specification.
* Provide technical oversight to improve existing products and implement new designs.
* Maintain compliance with statutory standards, including ATEX and relevant safety directives.
* Prepare monthly performance reports for senior management.
* Collaborate with internal teams and clients to capture and specify design requirements.
* Ensure compliance with ISO 9001:2015 quality management systems.
* Drive best practices in design, manufacturing, and safety across the business.
About You
You are a hands-on leader with a passion for engineering excellence and innovation. You thrive in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and are confident managing technical teams and complex projects.
Essential:
* Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Electronic, Electrical, or Electro/Mechanical Engineering.
* Proven experience in manufacturing or a technical environment, including a leadership or management role.
* Proficiency with 2D/3D CAD software (e.g., Inventor, SolidWorks, AutoCAD).
* Strong understanding of manufacturing processes such as fabrication, machining, and assembly.
* Good working knowledge of ISO 9001:2015 standards and industrial safety compliance.
* Strong leadership, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
* Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
Desirable:
* Experience with ATEX directive compliance.
* Knowledge of electrical and control system integration
