Site Reliability Engineer (SRE) - AWS Location: London (Hybrid) Salary: £100,000 per annum Bonus Excellent Benefits I am looking for an SRE to join a large-scale digital organisation partway through a major engineering modernisation journey. This is not a BAU support role; it is an opportunity to help shape how Site Reliability Engineering operates in practice as it becomes fully embedded in-house. You will work across high-impact platforms (web, mobile, payments, CRM, cloud and core services) and play a key role in moving the organisation away from reactive, ticket-driven support towards proactive, engineering-led reliability focused on customer-facing services and applications. Responsibilities Embed SRE principles to improve availability, reliability, performance and incident response across customer-facing and internal services Support the transition from legacy operational models to automated, observable, CI/CD-enabled service ownership Work closely with application, API and platform teams to improve service health, resilience and operational maturity Define, measure and evolve SLIs, SLOs and service health metrics for critical systems Investigate incidents at service and application level, performing root cause analysis and driving preventative improvements Improve observability using tools such as Datadog, Splunk and cloud-native monitoring Contribute to infrastructure and platform foundations where needed (AWS, IaC, containers), without being purely infrastructure-focused Act as an SRE advocate, influencing engineering teams towards reliable-by-design ways of working Experience / What you bring 5 years in an SRE, Platform Reliability or closely related DevSecOps role Strong grounding in SRE fundamentals: observability, incident response, automation and reliability metrics Experience supporting and improving production applications and APIs, not just infrastructure Hands-on AWS experience with infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation or similar) Practical exposure to CI/CD pipelines and containerised services (Docker / Kubernetes) Comfortable operating between application teams, platform teams and third-party vendors Able to communicate clearly, challenge constructively and influence engineering culture Experience working in complex, regulated or vendor-heavy environments is beneficial This is an individual contributor role with influence across teams rather than direct line management responsibility.
