Days Only (Mon-Thurs). gap technical are proud to be representing this global manufacturing business in their search for a CMM Programmer to work at their facility near Blackburn.
Performance Objectives
* The successful candidate will be responsible for ensuring precision and quality in manufactured components by programming and operating Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs) to inspect parts against engineering specifications and standards.
* Develop and write CMM programs using software such as PC-DMIS.
* Operate CMM equipment and FARO arms to inspect first-off, in-process, and final components.
* Interpret engineering drawings, GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing), and 3D models.
* Analyse measurement data and generate detailed inspection reports.
* Collaborate with production and quality teams to resolve dimensional issues.
* Maintain and calibrate CMM equipment and ensure proper documentation.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives related to quality and inspection processes.
* Train other staff on CMM usage and inspection techniques as needed.
Person Specification
* Proven experience in CMM programming and operation.
* Hands-on experience with FARO Arm or similar portable CMM technology.
* Strong understanding of GD&T and mechanical inspection techniques.
* Proficiency in CMM software (e.g., PC-DMIS, Calypso) and FARO software (e.g., CAM2).
* Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and CAD models.
* Attention to detail and strong analytical skills.
* Good communication and teamwork abilities.
* NVQ/HNC/HND in Mechanical Engineering or related field.
* Experience with other metrology tools (e.g., micrometres, height gauges, surface plates).
* Familiarity with ISO 9001 or AS9100 quality standards.
