* Operational Finance Leadership: Support the Financial Controller with daily financial operations, reporting, and internal financial controls. Work to ensure all budget holders are using funds efficiently and getting the best return on investment.
* Regulatory & Compliance Oversight: Ensure the company remains compliant with UK financial regulations, grant reporting, and tax obligations.
* Board & Stakeholder Reporting: Provide clear and concise financial reports to the board, investors, and key stakeholders, offering actionable insights to guide decision-making.
* People Leadership: Offer guidance and mentorship to the Financial Controller, as well as support HR matters such as recruitment, staff appraisals, and staff surveys.
Key Qualifications & Experience:
* Proven experience as a CFO, Finance Director, or senior finance executive in a start-up or scale-up environment, particularly within the energy, technology, or cleantech sectors.
* Extensive experience in fundraising, especially with venture capital, family offices, and grant funding in the UK/EU.
* Ability to operate in a fractional capacity while supporting internal teams and being a hands-on advisor to the leadership team.
* Deep understanding of UK financial regulations, including R&D tax credits, grants, and compliance.
* Comfortable working in a fast-paced, evolving environment, providing strategic insights while ensuring robust financial processes.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills, with the ability to translate financial data into actionable insights.
Why This Role:
* Be a key player in the commercial and financial growth of an innovative energy business.
* Enjoy flexibility in your work, with a balance of time spent in the office and working from home.
* Play a crucial role in shaping the future of a clean-tech business during its early stages of growth.
