Hays is working with a leading engineering contractor delivering complex civil and infrastructure schemes. They are seeking a Geotechnical / Structural Engineer with strong drainage experience to support the design, assessment, and delivery of drainage and earthworks packages on major projects.
This role will suit an engineer with a solid background in geotechnics and structural principles, combined with practical drainage design and site support experience.Key Responsibilities
* Geotechnical and structural assessment to support drainage and earthworks design
* Design and checking of surface water and foul drainage systems
* Interpretation of ground investigation data and geotechnical reports
* Input into temporary and permanent works related to drainage and substructures
* Liaison with designers, site teams, and external stakeholders
* Supporting construction activities with technical advice and problem solving
* Ensuring designs comply with relevant standards, specifications, and approvals
Essential Skills & Experience
* Degree qualified in Civil, Structural, or Geotechnical Engineering (or equivalent)
* Proven experience in geotechnical and/or structural engineering with drainage focus
* Strong understanding of UK drainage standards and specifications
* Experience interpreting GI data and ground risk
* Familiarity with Eurocodes, BS standards, and industry guidance
* Ability to work collaboratively across design and construction teams
Desirable
* ICE or equivalent professional membership (or working towards)
* Experience on infrastructure, highways, rail, or utilities projects
* Temporary works or earthworks design exposure
* Site-based engineering experience
