Key Responsibilities:
* Workshop Management:

o Plan, allocate, and supervise daily workloads for workshop staff.

o Ensure that all repairs, servicing, and inspections are completed safely, efficiently, and to manufacturer standards.

o Coordinate with operations and site teams to prioritize breakdowns and maintenance tasks.

* Technical Leadership:

o Diagnose complex mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical faults on a wide range of heavy plant machinery.

o Provide expert technical support and mentoring to workshop and field service engineers.

o Ensure correct use of diagnostic tools, equipment, and service procedures.

* Quality & Safety:

o Maintain strict adherence to company health, safety, and environmental policies.

o Conduct safety checks, toolbox talks, and ensure workshop compliance with regulatory standards.

o Inspect and sign off completed work, ensuring quality control and compliance with service records.

* Administration & Reporting:

o Maintain accurate job cards, service reports, and equipment maintenance logs.

o Monitor parts inventory, order supplies, and liaise with suppliers and vendors.

o Provide regular updates to management on workshop performance, costs, and equipment condition.

* Team Development:

o Train and mentor apprentices and junior technicians.

o Foster a positive, professional, and safety-focused workshop culture.


Qualifications & Experience:
* Trade qualification as a Heavy Plant Mechanic, Diesel Fitter, or Mechanical Engineer (NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, or equivalent).

* Detailed hands-on experience working with heavy construction, ground engineering or related equipment (Ground Improvement, Drilling Rigs, Piling Rigs, Large Concrete Pumps or related)

* Previous supervisory or foreman experience in a workshop environment.

* Strong diagnostic skills in hydraulic, electrical, and mechanical systems.

* Proficient with service management software and maintenance record systems.

* Valid driver's license; additional licenses (e.g., HGV, forklift) an advantage.
