General Manager, Windsor Leisure Centre (Fixed term contract, 9 months)
£35,000 - £40,000 depending on experience
This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate to take on the day-to-day responsibility for a flagship leisure facility based in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead.
The center has a recently refurbished health and fitness offer alongside a leisure pool, fitness pool, health suite, sports hall, café and group exercise studios. As a General Manager within this leisure complex you have full autonomy and be expected to drive the profitability of the business beyond budget with focus on growth in membership, swim school and activity programming. Providing exceptional customer service and delivering a wide range of KPI’s whilst ensuring operational efficiencies is the expectation.
OVERVIEW
Leisure Focus is recruiting for the position of General Manager on a fixed term contract basis. The successful candidate will take the lead role in developing the Windsor Leisure Centre business portfolio. Reporting into the Contract Manager this role is such an exciting opportunity for someone to have a strong influence on the culture, direction and success of a leisure facility. As a trust, Leisure Focus has ambitious plans and is looking at innovative ways to engage the local community through the leisure offer.
The post holder will inspire and lead the teams to ensure the highest standards of delivery at all times. The role will be responsible for ensuring that the Trust’s operations are fully compliant with relevant
legislation as well as managing and developing the Centres community engagement work and wider commercial offer.
ROLES & RESPONSIBILITIES
• Develop the centre’s revenue streams, to ensure optimum performance against budget
• Achieve financial net gain targets through close management of the Sales & Membership and Swim School Departments
• Develop and maintain strong relationships within the local business community.
• Recruit, Develop and Lead a team of Heads of Departments and Duty managers
• Manage daily operations across the center.
• Communicate daily and weekly targets and facilitate their achievement through the HOD team
• Monitor all costs to maximize efficiency.
• Proactively manage and be responsible for all Hygiene, Maintenance and Health and Safety issues, ensuring a safe environment for employees and members.
In summary, we are searching for a candidate with strengths in
people management, communications, stakeholder management, sales and marketing, and budgetary control. You will be able to motivate individuals through understanding their personal make up and career objectives. A manager with charisma, drive and confidence is needed for this role.
QUALIFICATIONS
It will be desirable that the post holder has a recognised qualification in Leisure Management or related subject.
The successful candidate will preferably have knowledge and skills in the Leisure or a related industry
A First Aid at Work Qualification.
A recognised Pool Plant Operators qualification is desirable or must be obtained within a set period if not held.
DBS
General Manager positions are classed as a regulated post and therefore will require a DBS Disclosure. Where the individual does not already hold a DBS Disclosure, it will be necessary for the postholder to be submitted for a DBS check.
