Residential Child Care Support Worker
Location: Wigton
Contract Type: Part-time, permanent
Specific Hours: hours per week - shift pattern
Salary: Unqualified Basic Salary: £X, pro rata (£X, FTE) per annum with potential to earn up to £X, including sleep-in shifts.

(Qualified Care Worker salary is based on the proven existing completion of a Level Diploma for Residential Childcare)
North Lakes Children’s Services is a well-established local provider of residential care and education for boys aged X. We aim to improve resilience, self-esteem, and abilities of all young people we work with.
As a Residential Support Worker, you are expected to be “strong, committed and passionate”. The young people are at the center of everything we do. You should be a role model, a good listener, approachable, and capable of inspiring and making a significant impact on a young person’s life. Your role includes promoting, supporting, and facilitating the creation of “happy memories” and having fun with them.
We are seeking permanent Support Workers with a warm, approachable manner who can make a positive impact on young people's recovery from early life experiences.
Main Duties
Each home has detailed shift planners and handover documents outlining specific daily duties, which vary during term-time and holidays. Some responsibilities include:
* Supporting daily routines, including hygiene, meals, school runs, and activities
* Supporting room cleaning, life skills, independence, socialization, and bedtime routines
* Attending medical and other appointments
* Supporting activity plans
* Completing day sheets and working on targets with the boys
* Completing handover documents and daily paperwork
* Managing budgeting requirements
* Conducting room checks and house cleaning
* Shopping, meal prep, and kitchen hygiene
* Performing checks such as COSHH, fire safety, and vehicle checks
* Building relationships with families and planning family contacts
Additionally, you will be a Keyworker, building strong bonds and creating opportunities for the young people.
Requirements
* Flexibility to work sleep-in nights and shifts, typically full days on, days off, with rotating start times: 8:00, 12:00, 16:00
* Understanding of issues faced by young people in care
* Hold a relevant qualification or willingness to work towards one
* Excellent communication and listening skills
* Willingness to learn and work as part of a team
* Willing to undertake an enhanced DBS check (paid by us)
* Experience with EBD, social/residential work, or youth work is advantageous
* Full, clean UK driving license and ability to cover other homes as needed
