Job overview

We are looking for an enthusiastic band 6 Occupational Therapist to join our Inpatient team therapy team at RSH for 9 month maternity leave cover. This post holder will work clinically on our Oncology ward at RSH collaborating with a Band 5 and 6 Physiotherapist. The post holder will work closely with the Macmillan Integrated Therapy Team to provide expert Oncology knowledge and advice to Therapy colleagues within the wider Inpatient team.

The post is based at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital.

The post includes involvement in the in service training rota as well as clinical supervision of both therapy staff and students.

Participation in the weekend discharge rota will be expected.


Main duties of the job

The post holder will treat Oncology patients on Ward 23 including rehabilitation and discharge planning which may be complex.

We have good links with local universities offering student placements as well as apprentice training across Therapies. There is an established preceptorship programme which offers new graduates' opportunity for learning alongside the existing workforce. The senior staff work in partnership with this programme to support their learning.

Qualifications

* Qualified Occupational Therapist
* Degree or equivalent in Occupational Therapy
* Evidence of specialist clinical training in relevant areas


Experience of NHS work

* Experience of working within the NHS.
* Experience of supervising junior and non-qualified staff
