Plant Fitter Location: Barking Salary: £40,000 - £45,000 + Overtime + Company Vehicle + Benefits Job Description An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mobile Plant Mechanic to join a busy and growing engineering operation covering Barking and the surrounding areas.
This role would suit somebody with a strong background within plant hire, heavy plant, construction equipment, agricultural machinery or powered access equipment who enjoys working in a field-based position.
The successful candidate will be responsible for carrying out servicing, diagnostics, maintenance and repairs on a wide range of plant and hire equipment across customer sites and depots, ensuring machinery is maintained to a high operational and safety standard.
Responsibilities Carrying out servicing, maintenance and repairs on plant and hire equipment at customer sites
Diagnosing faults across mechanical, hydraulic and electrical systems
Completing planned preventative maintenance (PPM)
Responding to breakdowns and carrying out reactive repairs
Conducting inspections and pre-delivery inspections (PDIs)
Completing service reports and associated paperwork accurately
Maintaining company vehicle, tools and equipment to a high standard
Liaising directly with customers and maintaining strong working relationships
Ensuring all work is completed in line with company health & safety procedures

Requirements Previous experience within plant hire, heavy plant or construction equipment industries
Strong mechanical fault-finding ability
Good knowledge of hydraulic and electrical systems
Ability to work independently in a mobile field-based role
Strong customer-facing communication skills
Full UK Driving Licence essential
Relevant engineering qualifications advantageous (NVQ, City & Guilds, Plant Maintenance etc.)
Package £40,000 - £45,000 basic salary
