Job Title: Principal Or Senior Structural Engineer
Location: Ivybridge, Devon
Salary: Principal: £40,000 - £55,000 per annum
Senior: £32,000 - £40,000 per annum
Job Type: Full-time, Permanent with an initial six-month probation period
Working hours: 37.5 hours/week - Monday to Friday (part time also considered)

We seek a Principal or Senior Structural Engineer to join our friendly team based in Ivybridge, Devon, working on a diverse range of exciting and challenging Structural Design and Inspection projects across the beautiful Southwest region.
The Role
The successful applicant will be responsible for providing technical and professional leadership as well as supporting others in the delivery of a range of structural engineering design works including the following:
* Designing and detailing of structures including a selection of the following:
o Reinforced concrete and steel frames
o Masonry structures
o Timber design
o Retaining walls and basements
o Structural alterations and refurbishment work
* Assessing existing structures for condition, suitability and potential adaptation or reuse
* Interpreting architectural and M&E layouts to develop coordinated structural designs
* Preparing and checking a wide range of technical reports including structural assessments, design reports and structural condition surveys
* Ensuring projects are designed in compliance with current codes and regulations including Eurocodes and British Standards
* Promoting a culture of health & safety and ensuring all works comply with current H&S requirements and industry best practice
* Producing and assisting with the preparation of fee proposals and tender documentation
* Collaborating with internal teams across civil and geotechnical departments to deliver integrated, cross-discipline projects
* Attending site visits to commercial, residential and public sector properties for inspections, surveys, site meetings and monitoring construction works
* Engaging with clients, architects, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to deliver projects to suit client requirements.
Requirements
About You:
* Educated to degree level (MEng / BEng / BSc) in a Civil or Structural Engineering degree.
* Preferably have chartered status with an accredited body (not essential where candidates exhibit sufficient experience)
* Have a minimum 4 -5 years of relevant experience in a structural design environment. (Less experience may be considered for the right candidate).
* Proficient in the use of design software such as AutoCad, Revit and Masterseries
* Be capable of working individually or as part of a wider team as lead engineer or assisting others.
* Be conscientious with high standards, attention to detail and good written and oral communication skills.
* Be competent in the use of Microsoft Office suite.
* Keep up with industry innovations, undertake CPD to maintain a good knowledge of current construction & engineering practice.
* Have a full driving licence.

* Hold a current CSCS card.
