About Us
Greenjets is an innovative engineering company developing high-performance propulsion systems for the aviation market. Our work spans research and development, engine production, aircraft systems, technical integration and flight testing. We are committed to delivering high-grade engineering and best-in-class propulsion for unmanned aircraft.
We do things differently. We move fast, we experiment and we adopt technologies that push beyond the current state of the art. Our aim is to go further, faster and more efficiently, while keeping costs competitive.
All our propulsion systems are designed, developed and manufactured in the UK. We focus on high quality, reliable and cost effective products supported by a robust, secure and ethical supply chain.
About the Job
As a Mechanical Design Engineer at Greenjets, you will take aircraft concepts and turn them into detailed, buildable designs. You’ll own the design of airframe components and mechanical subsystems, producing robust CAD, drawings and tolerancing that work not just in theory, but on the bench and in the hangar.
This role sits at the heart of the aircraft development flow, bridging concept design and hands‑on build. You’ll work closely with Aircraft Design Engineers upstream and the Development team downstream to ensure designs transition smoothly from screen to reality.
What You'll Do
* Develop detailed mechanical designs for airframe structures and aircraft subsystems
* Produce high-quality 3D CAD models, manufacturing drawings and GD&T
* Design for manufacture and assembly, balancing performance, weight, cost and robustness
* Work with a mix of 3D printed polymers, metallic components and some composite structures
* Support prototype builds directly, troubleshooting fit, function and integration issues
* Iterate designs rapidly based on test feedback and real-world constraints
* Collaborate closely with aircraft designers, development engineers and field operations
Desirable Qualifications, Experience & Attributes
* Degree (or equivalent experience) in Mechanical Engineering or a related discipline
* Strong experience with 3D CAD (e.g. SolidWorks, Fusion, CATIA or similar)
* Practical understanding of tolerancing, fasteners, structural design and mechanisms
* Comfortable designing parts that will actually be built and assembled
* Experience with rapid prototyping and low-volume manufacturing
* Hands‑on mindset — happy to be involved in the workshop when needed
* Aerospace experience is helpful but not required
