As Technician Manager, you are responsible for the day-to-day engineering activities and management of the Shift Technicians running across 3 shifts, with a team of up to 10 engineers reporting to you. Your focus will be ensuring that reactive and corrective maintenance complies with all standards and is completed in a timely and efficient manner. This is a key role supporting the achievement of primary site KPIs.
You will be working alongside the Maintenance Leader who is responsible for Preventative maintenance, and reporting to the Engineering manager. In this respect, you will coordinate closely as an engineering management team to achieve improvement across the boards.
Our site in Cotes Park produces professional cleaning chemicals. Naturally, fast, accurate, and thorough repairs and corrective maintenance are critical to our success.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Driving operational performance of Safety, Quality, Speed, and Cost KPIs in their area and supporting the Engineering Manager.
* Complete management and scheduling of a team of 10 Technicians, ensuring key activities are delegated and the progress is monitored and tracked.
* Attending daily meetings with a cross-functional team.
* Supporting the production team in prioritising issues and utilising the team effectively to drive performance improvement.
* Playing a key role in introducing all new machinery and technologies to the site and improving production line effectiveness through breakdown investigations.
* Ensuring outstanding Health and Safety compliance, along with meeting local legislation and Good Manufacturing Practices.
* Active participation in site improvement processes.
* Coaching problem-solving tools such as 3Qs, 5 Why's, and ensuring root-cause investigation and correction.
* Ensuring complete investigations related to HSE/Quality incidents.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / QUALIFICATIONS
* A few years’ management experience in a similar role.
* Electrical and/or Mechanical qualifications C&G, NVQ/ONC/HNC.
* Previous experience within a Manufacturing Industry – various industries considered: Packaging, Food, FMCG, or Maintenance environment preferred.
* Good understanding of general manufacturing utilities plant equipment (Steam Boilers, Compressed air Plant, Water treatment Plant).
* Awareness of workplace and chemical hazards with the associated regulations is desirable.
* Proficiency in MS Office packages including Word and Excel.
