We are looking for graduates for our Intelligent Infrastructure team, who have a flexible approach and an appetite to learn in a leading Engineering and Professional Advisory services consultancy. * Operations and Safety - Policy Monitoring & Evaluation: London, Manchester, Birmingham, Liverpool, Guildford
* Operations and Safety - Tunnel Systems & Operations: Guildford, Bristol or London
* Operations and Safety - Human Centered Design: Liverpool, Manchester, Birmingham
* Systems & Infrastructure: London, Manchester, Bristol
* Lighting & Energy Solutions: Glasgow, Edinburgh, Manchester, London or Southampton
Projects and teams
WSP is an international leader in intelligent transport systems (ITS). Our Intelligent Infrastructure team works to improve the operational and safety performance of transportation networks, including aspects of new mobility such as human-centered design, connectivity, cyber security, and zero emission vehicles (ZEVs).
Projects Working in our Intelligent Infrastructure team, you will help deliver projects such as:
* Sizewell Nuclear Power Plant
* HS2
* National Highways
* Local Authority active travel schemes and Metro link projects
* A303 Stonehenge tunnel
* A83 'Rest and Be Thankful' debris flow shelter
* Dartford Tunnel
* Medway Tunnel
Our Intelligent Infrastructure Teams
Human Centered Design: Our experts ensure infrastructure solutions prioritise user safety and efficiency by putting users at the centre of design work and through supporting research and analysis. Areas include:
* Safety and Cyber Security: safety risk assessments, safe systems approaches and understanding user error as a factor
* Operations: transport operations including station designs, signalling, driving behaviours, digital design, and behaviour-influencing measures
* Research: qualitative and quantitative research including simulation studies, feasibility studies, surveys, focus groups and workshops
As a Graduate you will support public sector clients in highways and rail with digital projects (operational technology; cyber security); infrastructure design standards; and research to inform public strategy and policy at local and national levels. Day-to-day activities could include:
* Applying and integrating principles of human factors, ergonomics and behaviour change to transportation or infrastructure projects and policies
* Undertaking research design, execution and reporting (quantitative and qualitative)
* Undertaking user identification and profiling including behavioural insights
* Undertaking Human Factors assessments such as task analysis and risk analysis
* Supporting the Capability Lead with the preparation of client proposals
Policy Monitoring & Evaluation: We support transport clients across priorities such as net zero carbon, climate resilience, zero harm, digitisation, and efficiency. Graduates collaborate with senior experts to deliver monitoring and evaluation plans for local and national transport policies. Day-to-day activities could include:
* Delivering multi-disciplinary monitoring and evaluation projects
* Interviews with stakeholders to understand intervention performance
* Reviewing and interpreting data to provide evaluation advice
* Collaborating with internal teams to bring in subject matter expertise
* Supporting the Capability Lead with client proposals
Tunnel Systems & Operations: Our tunnel systems team delivers end-to-end tunnel asset capability, integrating tunnel design and delivery with safety and operations. Graduate roles support engineering teams on prestigious projects across road, rail and utilities. Day-to-day activities could include:
* Preparing design drawings and documentation
* Preparing for client meetings and workshops
* Industry research and cross-disciplinary collaboration
* Site inspections with colleagues
* Supporting client proposals
Systems & Infrastructure: Partnering with clients to deliver road network technology and infrastructure, shaping future traffic control strategies and testing technologies from roadside to control centre. Day-to-day activities could include:
* Delivering technology solutions to manage road networks
* Contributing to future technology strategies for traffic control
* Testing new versions of traffic control technology
Lighting & Energy Solutions: Projects across public and private sectors, including Local Government, Strategic Road Networks, Electrical and Electric Vehicles, and environment-focused lighting solutions. Day-to-day activities could include:
* Data gap analysis
* General project administration, stakeholder engagement, and reporting (carbon assessments, cost/benefit analyses)
* Lighting and electrical design in 2D/3D CAD
Graduate Development Programme
Our two-year Graduate Development programme supports personal and professional development through blended learning, workshops, mentoring for professional registration, and on-the-job experience. Professional routes can include Chartership and leadership opportunities.

What We Will Be Looking For You To Demonstrate
You’ll have graduated with at least a 2:2 in a master’s or bachelor’s degree in a relevant subject. Criteria include:
* Complete the application form in full and answer all questions
* Pass online skill enabler assessment if you pass the initial stage
* Start work in April or September 2026
* Passion for engineering and consulting
* Desire for the built environment, infrastructure, places and the economy
* Creativity and problem-solving drive
* Willingness to share new ideas
* Ability to work with internal and external stakeholders in dynamic project environments
