We're JDR Development Company Inc. — a California-based construction and real estate development firm founded by three partners, two of whom are originally from the UK. We deliver high-end residential and commercial projects across San Francisco Bay Area, Napa Valley, Marin/Sonoma, and Truckee/Lake Tahoe.
We're hiring a Junior Project Manager based in the UK to support our remote project management team, working closely with an experienced PM across a portfolio of live California construction projects.
This is a real coordination role — not a filing job. You'll be tracking live schedules, chasing open items with on-site superintendents, prepping reports, and keeping the documentation backbone of our projects in order.
What you'll be doing:
→ Supporting the PM across multiple active residential and commercial construction projects
→ Maintaining RFI logs, submittal logs, action item registers, and change order trackers
→ Taking minutes in project coordination calls and managing follow-up
→ Coordinating with on-site superintendents and subcontractors on open items and deadlines
→ Assisting with budget tracking, cost code entry, and invoice processing in Buildertrend
→ Organising project documentation — drawings, permits, photos, correspondence
→ Drafting routine RFIs, transmittals, and project correspondence for PM review
→ Supporting bid coordination — issuing RFPs, collecting sub bids, leveling comparisons
→ Identifying schedule risks early and flagging proactively to the PM
What we're looking for:
→ 3+ years in construction project management, with exposure to residential remodel, ground-up, or design-build delivery
→ Demonstrated ability to support live construction projects with remote field teams
→ Strong construction financial management skills — budgets, cost codes, change orders, pay apps
→ Proficiency with Buildertrend strongly preferred; Procore or similar acceptable
→ Exceptional written and verbal communicator — you'll represent JDR in client and partner correspondence
→ Able to read and interpret architectural drawings, specifications, and contract documents
→ Highly organised with a bias toward detail, documentation, and structured follow-through
Preferred:
→ Experience in luxury residential or high-end design-build projects
→ Background in quantity surveying, estimating, or contract administration (JCT, NEC, or AIA)
→ Familiarity with CSI MasterFormat cost structures
→ Degree in Construction Management, Civil Engineering, Architecture, or related field
Engagement: Self-employed / independent contractor — you'll be responsible for UK tax and NI.
Hours: Flexible, with afternoon/evening UK availability to overlap California time (PST/PDT).
Pay: £175-200 per day (£45,000 - £50,000 equivalent per annum)
* If you have a solid construction PM foundation and want to work across genuinely interesting projects in one of California's most desirable markets — we'd like to hear from you.
