Our client is seeking a dedicated Transport Scheduler who thrives on ensuring that deliveries are executed seamlessly, bringing joy to customers and efficiency to the operation.
Job Details
* Title: Transport Scheduler
* Location: Canterbury
* Salary: £28,000 – £32,000 DOE
* Hours: Sunday – Thursday, 1:30pm – 9:30pm
* Start date: Immediate
* Annual leave: 20 days + bank holidays, increasing to 25 days after 2 years
The Role
As a Transport Scheduler you will play a crucial part in planning, coordinating, and optimizing delivery and collection routes across multiple sites. Your mission? To ensure that our customers receive their orders on time, in full, and without error.
Key Responsibilities
* Plan and schedule all customer deliveries and collections efficiently.
* Ensure maximum vehicle utilisation and cost‑effective routing.
* Monitor driver availability, vehicle capacity, and compliance with safety standards.
* Debrief drivers daily, ensuring all Proof of Deliveries (PODs) and documentation are completed accurately.
* Liaise closely with depot and warehouse teams to coordinate loading and dispatch times.
* Manage relationships with agency drivers and external hauliers.
* Respond to any transport‑related issues promptly, including breakdowns or urgent customer needs.
* Maintain accurate records for vehicle defects, incidents, and maintenance schedules.
* Support continuous improvement initiatives within the transport department.
Qualifications
* Experience in transport planning, scheduling, or logistics coordination (ideally in a multi‑depot operation).
* An understanding of driver regulations, vehicle capacities, and route optimisation.
* Highly organised, proactive, and confident in decision‑making.
* The ability to communicate effectively with drivers, managers, and customers.
* Thrives in a fast‑moving environment where priorities can change quickly.
* Good IT skills and familiarity with transport management systems (TMS).
