We are currently seeking a candidate with a robust background in in-licensing to fill this newly created position. The Business Development Director, In-Licensing will play a pivotal role in identifying and engaging with prospective partners to expand our product portfolio in the UK and the Nordics.
This role involves frequent travel across Europe and the US (25-40% of the time) and will be conducted primarily in English. The successful candidate will report directly to the Head of Business Development.
Key Responsibilities
• Identify and pursue new opportunities for business growth through in-licensing and acquisitions.
• Take ownership of the existing portfolio, assessing potential for growth, developing supporting business plans, and executing strategies to bring products to market.
• Gather market intelligence, evaluating market potential and identifying opportunities aligned with our product portfolio and technologies.
• Conduct comprehensive market analyses for each opportunity, including end-to-end business case assessments.
• Lead complex contract negotiations (e.g., CDA, LSA, co-development) to cultivate long-term partnerships.
• Collaborate with internal departments (e.g., IP, portfolio, legal, regulatory, quality, finance) to ensure project success from agreement signing to product commercialization.
• Develop and implement best practices to manage and track opportunities, continuously optimizing processes and interfaces with other functional areas.
• Handle general reporting and administrative tasks related to commercial activities.
• Attend sales meetings with clients and participate in sales conferences as required.
Desired Skills and Expertise
• Minimum of 4 years' experience in business development, partner development, or alliances management within the pharmaceutical industry, specifically in an in-licensing (generics) role.
• Established business network in the generics industry with a track record of commercial success.
• Deep understanding of local markets, sales channels, and customer dynamics.
• Goal-oriented with a passion for negotiation and deal-making.
• Proficient in IP, regulatory affairs, and product development processes.
• Strong negotiation and influencing skills, with demonstrated experience in contract negotiations (e.g., CDAs, LSAs, Co-Development agreements).
• Excellent interpersonal, presentation, and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex concepts and influence internal and external stakeholders.
• Strategic thinker with sound business judgment and financial acumen.
• Native or fluent English speaker with fluency in at least one other European language.
• Home-based position requiring proactivity and strong organizational skills.
