A vacancy has arisen for a MLA manager in the Blood Science Department at York Hospital. This is a permanent contract for a full time position of 37.5 hours a week.
The successful candidate will lead and manage a team of MLA staff to provide efficient and effective support to clinical and scientific staff within the department. The post holder will be responsible for managing shift rota's, sickness absence, annual leave and appraisals.
The post holder will be familiar with all aspects of the MLA role acting as a senior resource for help and advice to others within the team and organisation.
Main duties of the job
Key responsibilities include:
1. Providing motivational leadership to the MLA team
2. Use Healthroster to produce shift rosters, enter sickness absences and bank staff hours.
3. Recruitment of MLA staff
4. Carrying out sickness return to work forms, and assisting with general HR issues.
5. Training of MLA staff and signing staff competencies.
6. Use of Quality management system to update documents and investigation of CAPAs.

Essential criteria
14. Formal or vocational lab-based qualifications e.g. NVQ level 4 in science or management, or IBMS Certificate of achievement part 2
Experience

15. Previous experience of working within a clinical laboratory environment
16. Experience of supervision and management within a team working environment.
