Role Overview
We are seeking a proactive and knowledgeable Health and Safety Advisor to support and enhance our internal site services. The successful candidate will be responsible for promoting a positive health and safety culture, ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, industry standards, and certification requirements, as well as advising teams on best practice across asbestos, air hygiene, and water hygiene operations.
The Job Role
* Provide professional health and safety advice and support across our diverse site services.
* Monitor, review, and update internal health and safety policies, risk assessments, and procedures to align with legal and certification requirements.
* Support operational teams with the planning and safe delivery of projects, ensuring method statements and risk assessments are robust and effective.
* Conduct regular site inspections, audits, and investigations to identify hazards, non-conformances, and opportunities for improvement.
* Deliver training, toolbox talks, and awareness sessions to enhance safety culture across the business.
* Maintain accurate records of incidents, near misses, inspections, and corrective actions, ensuring timely resolution.
* Liaise with regulators certification bodies, and external auditors to demonstrate compliance and continuous improvement.
* Keep up to date with changes in legislation, industry standards, and best practices, ensuring timely communication and implementation across the business.
* Support the development of continuous improvement initiatives within health, safety, quality, and environmental management systems.
Skills & Experience
Essential:
* NEBOSH General Certificate (or equivalent) in Occupational Health & Safety.
* Practical experience in health and safety within asbestos, air hygiene, water hygiene, or related compliance services.
* Strong working knowledge of relevant legislation, HSE guidance, and certification standards (ISO45001 and ISO14001)
* Ability to carry out thorough risk assessments, audits, and incident investigations.
* Confident communicator with the ability to engage teams and influence safe behaviours.
* Strong organisational skills with attention to detail.
Desirable:
* NEBOSH Diploma or working towards further professional qualifications.
* Membership of IOSH or other professional health and safety body.
* Previous experience advising within a compliance or environmental services organisation.
* Experience delivering in-house health and safety training.
